911 operators honored for role in babies rescues

It may have all been in a day’s work for two New Jersey 911 operators, but on two very special days recently, they helped two local families through any parent’s worst nightmare.
Pete McEvoy and Gerald Baber gave life-saving CPR instructions over the phone to terrified parents whose babies had stopped breathing.
Neither was prepared for the outpouring of support they received at Wednesday’s freeholder meeting, where they were honored with Salem County’s first-ever Telecommunicator Excellence Award.
