Pittsburgh Police Shooting Prompts 911 Changes
9-1-1 in the News, Trends | Greg | July 20, 2009 at 7:58 am
Significant changes are underway at Allegheny County 911 in Pennsylvania, following the shooting deaths of three Pittsburgh police officers on April 4th.
A study that was just released recommends even further changes, in order to protect public safety.
Pittsburgh Police Officers Eric Kelly, Paul Sciullo and Stephen Mayhle were killed while responding to a domestic disturbance in Stanton Heights on April 4th.
A 911 dispatcher failed to relay to police there were some weapons in Richard Poplawski’s home before police arrived.
Days after the shooting, county officials acknowledged the mistake and said they’ve taken steps to ensure that it doesn’t happen again.
