New class emphasizes call taker’s critical role in ensuring officer safety

(MADISON, Conn.) August 4, 2009 — PowerPhone, a leader in emergency communications solutions announces immediate availability of a new course that teaches 9-1-1 professionals skills and techniques to protect law enforcement responders.

Protecting Law Enforcement Responders: The Dispatcher’s Role™, is specifically designed to educate telecommunicators in understanding the risks faced by law enforcement officers and their integral role in enhancing officer safety.

This brand new class features tactics and techniques to quickly recognize threats to officer safety, provide pre-arrival survival instructions™, and identify potential “suicide-by-cop” scenarios. The class also features a segment on maintaining radio etiquette during high-risk incidents and creating a safer response environment for public safety personnel.
