Madison, CT (August 11, 2009)– PowerPhone Inc., a leading emergency communications solutions provider, announces the latest enhancement to its revolutionary Total Response®, Computer Aided Call Handling (CACH) software. Multi-Language Support or MLS, is a “first-of-its-kind” multi-lingual feature that allows agencies to access their call handling protocols and pre-arrival instructions in a variety of languages from a single application. As the first truly integrated call handling protocol software for 9-1-1, Total Response delivers dynamic call scripts via a single interface for Fire Safety, Law Enforcement or Emergency Medical calls. Following on this powerful innovation, PowerPhone has taken the next significant step with the globalization of its software.
Multi-Language Support allows agencies to have access to their 9-1-1 call handling protocols in as many languages as they require. As an operator logs onto the system , they define their primary language as well as an optional secondary language. When a call originates from a secondary language caller, the system will display the content of the emergency protocol in that secondary language as help prompts for the call taker. Imagine a predominately English speaking operator being presented with a distressed Spanish speaking caller. Instead of having to remember Spanish phrases that translate the protocol from their screen, they simply move the pointer over the text for the correct translation to appear.
“PowerPhone has worked hard to develop the notion of ‘One Number… One Protocol™,” said PowerPhone President and CEO Chris Salafia. “We designed Total Response around that theme and MLS is a continuation of those efforts. This feature will be a welcome enhancement to our installed user base around the globe. It also provides a very unique tool for PSAPs in towns and cities across the USA that serve small ethnic communities. The ability to communicate with a caller in a crisis who isn’t necessarily an English speaker could easily be another life saving tool in their response arsenal.”
PowerPhone will be demonstrating Multi-Language Support next week at the Association of Public Safety Communications Officers (APCO) Conference and Exhibition, Booth # 1738, in Las Vegas and expects to ship Total Response with this new capability in Q4 2009.
