READING, MI — The Reading Emergency Unit (REU) hosted its Camp 9-1-1 for kids, ages 8-13, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 20-21.

The annual safety camp helps teach children from all over Hillsdale County the importance of safety through a serious of demonstrations and games. There was a crash-test dummy demonstration to teach seat belt safety and an activity featuring Jello molded into the shape of a brain to demonstrate the importance of wearing a helmet.

“We believe it is our responsibility to provide the public, not only with our service, but to provide an education, as well, that they can use for the rest of their lives,” said Camp 9-1-1 Counselor Bryan Harmer.
