BOSTON, MA — The Boston Police, which already boasts the most Twitter followers of any law enforcement agency in the world, gets our vote for Hashtags Of The Week, after they sent out a rather amusing tweet about a would-be bank robbery in Southie the other day.
According to @Boston_Police, officers responded to the Eastern Bank on Broadway and spoke to a teller who said the ‘Toonie-wannabe came to her window with a note that said, “Give me all your money.”
“The teller then told the suspect that the window was CLOSED,” the cops tweeted. “The suspect then proceeded to the next window where there was a customer in line. The suspect was then told to wait his turn in line and to remove his hood. A customer then also told the suspect to take off his hood. The suspect refused to take off his hood and left the bank without receiving any money.”
The cops sent out the dispatch with the hashtags #CLOSED, #waityourturn and #foiledagain.
BTW, @Boston_Police has more than 20,000 Twitter followers and their tweets, put out by the department’s 911 Operations and Media Relations, are popular with crime buffs — and criminals. The cops once arrested a suspect who was sitting on his couch, reading the BPD’s blog!
