JACKSONVILLE, FL — A tearful reunion for two women took place at a local ADT call center earlier today.

On Nov. 12, Delores White of Jackson, Miss. was preparing for bed when her carbon monoxide detector went off.

Maya Harris, the Jacksonville dispatcher on the other end calmly assisted White, dispatching fire and rescue crews to her home. White exited the home safely.

“The alarm started going off, then I went to the panel and tried to punch it off and kept trying to turn it off and then I started to cry. That is when she called,” said White.

According to ADT, more than 70 percent of the home was filled with poisonous, odorless carbon monoxide gas.

For the first time since the November call, the two women finally met.

“It’s just a blessing to get to meet her and hear who’s on the other line. It’s just a blessing,” said Harris.

The carbon monoxide alarm was a recommendation from White’s late husband. Harris received a life-savers award, recognizing her quick action and professionalism.
