Butt Dialing Survey
According to this article, Toronto, Canada’s operators respond to 300 emergency calls a day that are placed by people’s butts! Also, referred to as “pocket dials,” these accidental calls from pockets and purses make up ten percent of the total volume of calls to 9-1-1 in Toronto. This new trend takes up time and resources, but can be avoided by not pre-programming 9-1-1 into your phone and always locking your keypad and screen before tossing your phone in your purse or pocket. If a butt dial happens to you, don’t hang up; just explain to the dispatcher what happened
